Host India, last year’s runners-up China, Hong Kong and Thailand entered semifinals of the 3rd Asia Rugby Sevens U-18 Girls Championship here at Kalinga Stadium today. In the quarterfinals, India outplayed Qatar 31-0, China destroyed Philippines 56-0, Thailand thrashed UAE 36-7 and Hong Kong humbled Sri Lanka 51-0.
India reached quarterfinals by winning all three of their league matches in Pool B. They followed their 22-5 win over UAE earlier on the opening day with two more today. India demolished Bangladesh 89-0, the biggest of the championship, and Sri Lanka 24-15.
Sweety Kumari was the star of India’s wins, displaying electrifying runs and attractive skills. She notched up most of the tries for India. In the semifinals, India will meet Thailand tomorrow.

League matches: India beat Bangladesh 89-0, UAE beat Sri Lanka 27-12, Thailand beat Chinese Taipei 68-0, Hong Kong beat Nepal 75-0, China beat Qatar 65-0, Philippines beat Laos 7-0, UAE beat Bangladesh 74-0, India beat Sri Lanka 24-15, Chinese Taipei beat Nepal 25-0, Hong Kong beat Thailand 19-10, Qatar beat Philippines 19-14, China beat Laos 63-0.
Bowl matches: Laos beat Nepal 30-0, Chinese Taipei beat Bangladesh 27-0.
Quarterfinals: China beat Philippines 56-0, Thailand beat UAE 36-7, Hong Kong beat Sri Lanka 51-0, India beat Qatar 31-0.
